Day 1

here are the 4x pieces of wood for the base and top for the racks after they've been cut down.

the 6ft+ L and bar aluminum.

L bar after its been cut to size

sanded down but not exactly fliat

my P6N diamonds. i actually have 2x P7N SLI Platinums that i'm considering to either get a refund or put up for donation in the next folding competition.

here are the tripplite surge protectors

6x G.Skill ram, going to return two of them.

4x ASUS Top 9600GSOs

8x eVGA 9600GSO

my heatsinks but lacking the enzotech one. logitech keyboard and mouse. and the PSUs and oh.. the USPS priority box right there is 2 more PSUs from gibby! thanks again!

here are the still bubble wrapped seagate HDDs.

here is a shot of the first rack. with some of the boxes on top as i'm running out of room in my apartment.

shot of the second rack that i finished tonight.

the first one is made by having the hex screws stuck into the wood.

second one is made by using 1" L bracket and a 1.5" L bracket. IMO this way is much cleaner and much much sturdier.

here is what the interior shot of the connecting area looks like

and here is a shot of the 2nd rack. with the L brackes

and i'm adding power buttons on to the top shelf. its in one of the above pictures but i'm also adding handles to each one too. i've already installed feet too.

i think what i'm going to do is take apart the first rack and cut it down a bit so there are no holes in the areas i'll be working on. as for the L bars.. i'm going to cut those down to size a bit too. this will result in a slightly shorter rack but that isn't a problem for the hardware so i'm not too worried. as for networking.. i might have to resort to getting wireless cards for each of them.. sigh.. i was hoping to actually use a switch but that isn't going to happen.

edit
all the standoffs and hdd stabilizers are in.

now to give you guys an idea of how it looks with an HDD on it.
