Greenie-poo - Day 02 - panel touch-ups and anchor cubes
cut some strips off of a piece of scrap from the black panel to begin assembling a jig for making the anchor cubes. It required a trip to mod2hardware south where it was cold, to use the scroll saw. ips welded the pieces to scrap sheet of clear. we'll come back to this...

while the ips set for an hour or two (strength = 800 lbs /inch^2 after 2 hours) I filed the panels that had a high edge (about 1/32+, 2 of 4)

I think I knocked em back to liveable tolerances. center 2 were the ones in question

jig for the cubes was set and strong. the two black scraps welded together (above) is goingto be used for spacing certain cubes 1/4" off the edge to account for the side panels which both recess inside all of the surrounding black panels. more on that on monday

realised my makeshift jig wouldnt clamp onto the drill press unless I took off its corners. made another trip to m2h-south and used the scroll saw to lop off the corners

this setup allewed me to use one finger to hold cubes firmly into the corner formed by those black strips, and not have it spin, or go offline, while being drilled out with drill bit for 6-32 tapping

thats the workload, 26 cubes that needed to be drilled out and tapped for 6-32. the other four cubes are for risers for the hdd and will be drilled out with 9/64 to allow 6-32 screws pass thru clean

a couple hours later...

the time spent on making that little jig really paid off, made the chore easier and yielded consistent cubes centered out for panel anchors.
back on monday with more
thanks for watching
