Greenie-poo - Day 07 - acrylic routing, back panel I/O

A guy in the building I work in hooked me up with a scrap piece of 2x4 which I needed to mount the routing table to. got the stuff ready

one thing I needed to do was drill pilot holes at 1/8" for the mounting screws, what better excuse to use the drill press

got the table mounted and installed the dremel and router bit. got a piece of 1/4" acrylic scrap to test on

after a few tests and changing bits to larger of the two in the set, I rounded all 4 edges of the front panel, and the back panel. I will do the long edges on both the top and bottom for a clean look

not bad for a little jammer

took advice from my mates on ocn and used some other acrylic (1/8") to mock/test the back panel IO cutouts. set up a sheet of black 1/8 and cut a 14.5" x 6.5" piece to simulate my back panel

got the mobo io marked off and found center for the back fan, which is not center to the panel

after rough cut on the scoll saw

test fit. everything pretty much lines up, just need to come up a shade on the bottom

got the template piece and the real piece

aligned the lower and left edges and clamped them together

traced the lines and made some adjustments for the bottom line about 1/16 higher, also transferred the pilot mark for the back fan

decided to blow out the fan hole first while the panel was still solid

theres the back fan hole, and the io marks, it got late so I called it for today

first thing tomr, five mins on the scroll saw to clear out the IO and some filing, then I will blow out the top blowhole, route the top and bottom panel long edges, then Ill reassess where I am at. basically cube bonding and sanding polishing will remain

thanks for watching
