Picked up some 1/8 inch plate today. Got it CHEAP because of the scratches, and a couple gouges. I think i can work with it. So.....what to do with it. Give it a brushed look by sanding in one direction? Put a variable sander on it to cloud it up? Paint/Powder Coat it black? I might try to do both sanding techniques, one on either side, and we'll see which looks better. I plan on hand filing the edges cleanly, then polishing them. I could polish the whole thing, which might look good initially, but once the oxidation starts it will cloud up on me.

I will be using button head stainless steel 1/4x20's to hold it in place. I am thinking of different machining finishes I could try also, as I think it's gonna need something fancy to work as candy on the front panel.
