Greenie-poo - Day 14 - dpst switch, anchor cubes welding

needed to drill out the mounting hole for that dpst toggle switch, to control the led feet and ccfl power, grabbed the 1/2" bit (3/8 drive) and marked off an area between the fan hole and psu opening. then I had a thought... I measured the switch barrel with the digital calipers and noticed it was .456, not .5...

decided to do a quick test in 1/4" acrylic scrap to see what the deal was. drilled 2 holes, upper one 1/2", the other is a shade narrower at 15/32

turned out the 15/32 was pefrectly snug, the 1/2" was a little loose. since acryl is a soft material (compared to metal) there is a bit of "play" when drilling out holes. I am glad I did the test in scrap, something I wouldnt have given a second thought to if this was metal

(storing that bit of info in the "to-remember" brain file)

got the real panel and drilled it out 15/32" for the toggle

toggle mounted as a test fit, aint she purty?

if youve followed my other builds, there is always a "poop or get off the pot" moment, this was it for this build - time to mount the anchor cubes permanently to the top and bottom panels, there's the stuff

first five down, my little 1/4" acrylic offset tool that I made a few weeks ago was really rocking socks during this work

11 cubes welded to the bottom

next victim, top panel and 12 cubes...

mounted

top and bottom panels with all anchor cubes welded on, started feeling tingly about here

once the cubes are set for a day or two I can mark off the screw holes in the front and back panels, then get the top bottom front and back joined up in a sideless box, then use that to mark off the screw holes for the right panel (mobo bottom) Once thats done I can seat and weld the mobo rails, then from there it shouldnt be too much to get this puppy buttoned up

thanks for watching
