Greenie-poo - Day 15 - we have box

devised a slick way to mark screw holes thru the anchor cubes onto the panels without de-papering or any nonsense. mounted a narrow drill bit in my tap handle, lets get started...

used a 1/4" scrap sheet as a base, and the wall and table as the 90 degree set

used tape to hold panel to be marked upright and in place, then pushed adjacent panel in, and used tap handle + drill bit to score a dot thru the anchor cubes, into the panel

marks are hard to see in pic but they were plenty good in person. black dotted the marks and got it on the drill press

bink

next...

done with front and back panel screw holes

needed two rails to support the psu sides, along the bottom of the case so when its all assembled, if I lay the case on its side to do any work I wont here crunch snap! Had some green strip scrap left over from the mobo rails

set it up and the dremel plastics blade

cut in half and files the rough spots

after sanding and round over
these will be rouged tomr

my next steps needed me to assemble the box

we have box!

laid the poo on her side

test fit of the mob, but what you cant see is the yet to be mounted anchor cube underneath the mobo. its the center back one that will be welded to the back panel but accepts a shortened screw thru the right panel (was that confusing?) anyway it will be more clear next few days. Anyway it was a shade too tall (the cube) so it will need a shave

first I prepped the front panel for the same type of cubes for anchoring right left panels at front back centers

welded to front panel

fabricating the special shaved cube, remember this jig?
(I never made this cube originally because I had no idea if it would be worth it until I was at this stage)

drilled out on center 7/64 then tapped it 6-32

now witht the two cubes for the back panel I chose to shave down the uglier of the two about 1/16" so it will clear under mobo and solders. the victim is taped so I can grasp it with pliers while dremel stoning it

couldnt get a clear pic, but you can see the one in the foreground is shorter. thats the one for under the mobo

time to weld em

the cube on the left is the regular size one and was welded first and set for about 15 mins, then I had to break out all sorts of alignment tools to get the shaved cube in just the right spot. there it is just before I let fly some "glue"

front and back panels all cubed and resting while the weld on sets over night

tomorrow please join me while I visit Rouge City

thanks for watching
