Psuedo update today. I have small a last minute shipment on the way from PPC's that should be here tomorrow. In preparation, I decided I would... well, prep.
I disassembled everything, and cleaned everything up with some dishwater soap and a green scrubby sponge. It gave stuff a light "brushed" look, but the raw aluminum was beat enough at this point, I didn't mind. I actually kind of like the look.
Here's the bare nekkid frame:
And some shots of where I modified it:
Here's the new pieces I fabricated. I decided I'm not going to polish these, but I did sand them lightly with 220 grit just to clean them up a bit:
My favorite of these pieces:
even gave it it's own special cable management hole:
And the cover panels. Windex and a micro fiber towel seems to be the ticket for this brushed aluminum:
My favorite of these pieces. Prior to this mod, I don't think I had this many holes line up for me in all my work as this single piece has, lol:
I like the polished look of the holes I cut in the panels, but I touched up the outer edge cuts with a sharpie. This isn't the best shot of it, but honestly, it looks just about this good in person:
And finally, here's my fun tub of left over parts from the A70 and the donor A16:
Plenty in there to keep me busy on future projects.
That's all for today folks. I gotta get back to work.
