Butcher's Hook - Day 02.0 - Frame construction continues
more practice on corner welds, clamped together some more scrap and welded both corner welds on that small piece on the right

still had a crappy weld (blotchy) but I decided to do a "proof of concept" on it using the dremel aluminum oxide bit (orange or brown bits for grinding/sharpening ferrous metals)
With a better weld bead, inside corner welds would actually look pretty good after grinding with the alu oxide dremel bits, but more on that another day

back to the task at hand, getting the base of the frame put together. clamped the next piece to the L I did yetserday

buttered that weld

noticed the frame base was slightly out of square, so I cut the 10" cross member to help the situation

inserted the cross member and tapped it square with a hammer

now I could do the rest of the base welding "and not feel so damn self-concious"

buttered some more corners on both sides

then needed a contraption to raise the frame so I could get at these corners (I think I am slowly becoming the king of contraptions

)

rolled some dimes on the outter corners

ready to grind some welds

clamped

after grinding all 3 axis on the thre corners of the frame, I needed to do a couple patches

patch 1

patch 2

after regrinding patches

time for the upright sections, needed 2 * 2', and 2 * 2"

cut the 2' sections

then the 2" sections, checking them against the trolley rail, all ok

time to roll some dimes betwen the 2" and the 2' pieces

did all four welds (2 on each upright) and laid them aside for grinding and any rewelding/regrinding that may be needed (which I can say will be needed)

next session will be grinding the upright sections, fixing the welds, regrinding, then starting on the star pieces
thanks for watching
