lets make an hdd mount

marked off holes

drill outs with 9/64" (lets 6-32 pass thru clean)

after I test fitted the holes to the drive they were off a "shade"

. In this pic, in the long direction, they were off by a 16th or so, so I decided to overbore the holes to 3/16 from 9/64...

during this endeavor I dropped the bottle of tapping fluid, and it shot all over the place, including on me. Luckily I had glasses on. Here's the mess. The bottle didnt break, luckily. cleaned it all up and opened the garage door, and cranked the fan - tap fluid sucks to smell and deal with, aside from that, its great

back to business

mounted the hdd in the mount (where else would it be mounted

) and aligned it to the frame

clamped the mount to the frame

after the mount was tight and in good position I removed the drive

I tried to tack the corners with 1/16" stick at lowered amps, and had all kinds of problems. at the end of the day, it came back to 5/64 at 100 amps (when in doubt, cook that son of a...

ugly welds but when grinded and repaired it should be cool, plus its a hidden section

I didnt mount the psu because I want to double-check some specs. more soon
