Butcher's Hook - Day 12 - mobo pan & plate + eyelet

theres the mobo plate from last night

clamped it down to drill out standoff holes

after drilling out with 7/64"

tap action @ 6-32

on the backside I ground the ridges that were formed from drilling/tapping, using a dremel orange stone (aluminum oxide, for ferrous metals)

mounted the standoffs, as I did I noticed a problem...

the standoffs have a recessed shoulder of about 1/16". Guess what, my plate is 1/16". basically means that when I screw these in theres nothing or barely nothing touching threads. remedy time...

washers

lets blow out the mobo pan holes to 9/64"

did so and noticed another problem...

the standoff female holes werent deep enough to accept the entire standoff shaft (watch it with the comments)

in a pinch (before I order taller standoffs with deeper holes) I happen to have 5/16 barrel standoffs, these accepted the shafts of the others, so at least I could continue working

replaced all the steel standoffs with the deeper brass ones

after that I mounted the pan and mounted the next set of steel standoffs

like a moron I ran upstairs and took the m3 screws out of the intelli (after having reinstalled them this morning) thinking I needed them for the mobo, forgetting that even tho this is a lian li mobo pan its over bored to 6-32

after realizing my stupidity I busted out the box of 6-32 screws and mounted the mobo

every modder needs one of these screw drivers, it has a 10" shaft and a magnetic tip (ok Ill cut you all off now - "thats what she said" )

disassembled it all and got busy in the eyelet for the mobo plate. measured the inside...

center line

clamped

tacked

after 2 tacks, flipped to cook seem (no pic)

stacked another ring on other side and tacked

flipped to cook seem 2

pic

test hang

tomr I will cook the rings together, grind the nasties, and start in the star (came up with a great idea to do the star but its top secret atm )

thanks for watching
