Butcher's Hook - Day 14 - mobo plate eyelet redo

last weekend when I welded around the eyelet to seal the 2 washers I almost had a win, until some metal was ablated. I wasnt sure if it was salvagable until I had a good look today - it wasnt. Time for a redo, and a new idea

started by clamping the plate down to cut off the old eyelet

dremel action

after a bit of angle grinding, and touch-ups with the dremel, almost like it never happened, only there are pics, so I guess it did happen

laid out some stuff for a new idea, a rectangular part that has the hole, and mounts thru the plate with screws

figured out what I wanted to do and measured up some stuff

pilot for the main hook hole on the drill press

prepped to do main hole

blam

marked off for mounting screws

after some drill press action

while I had this part, it occurred to me thatthe switches use the same hole (5/8" holesaw), so I decided to test a switch in the hole, just to double check that in metal 5/8 is the right hole for the switches. Win. (THIS IS NOT THE SWITCH PLATE)

after marking the mobo plate with the screw holes from the hanger plate, brought it to the drill press

after drill press action, and test fits, two of the holes needed some "convincing" that this is where they needed to be. clamped it down and "convinced" them

thats better

now that I had everything working mechanically, I could cutoff the hanger plate. clamped it with straight edge

after a few passes to score it, I removed the guide and cut it off

re-test-fit

some test shots with the hook at roughly the right height that it will be when I build the front hinge/pin assembly. put a psu in there fro Q/A purposes

wanted to see the pan and plate together to make sure the taller standoffs were cool with the new hanger element

quick mounted corners only

hang mofo! lol. A shade crooked, no concern until all parts are in, at which time I can add some stealthed counter-weight system

that hook is ominous, no?

ok so far on the clearance

tomr I will make the switch plate, and mounts
and drill some wiring holes in the frame using the right ange drill

thanks for watching
