Butcher's Hook - Day 21 - star template
wanna laugh your arse off?

a bit too big on the trolley, eh?

anyway, Im this close to saying f it and making my own trolley, but more on that another day. the task at hand was making the jig for the star, so I can make the star already

theres the template, and the mdf panel for the jig

cut out the straight sections on the template and ran a thumb tack thru the center

poked a hole in the jig center with a tack, to accept the real one easy

tacked the template to the jig. notice the hole in the cardboard template at the top, its so I can see the 40d markings when the template is rotated. its key to this working (or not). First at top dead center I marked thru the template with pencil onto the jig

then I rotated to -40 and did the same, then to +40 and did the same. then I filled in the areas with pencil...

connected the missing points...

before I could even think about laying the triangles in the jig, two things needed to happen. I needed to grind the welds on the points so everything will sit flush when the second step is done - grinding out the channels jig. First step: grind welds then dremel stone them

a few hours later...

then step 2 began. loaded a blue stone in the dremel to grind channels in the mdf

did one

test fit

the first one was win, just need to deepen the points, then do the other two sets of channels. then I will be able to use the jig to mark the cut lines in the triangles, cut them, reseat in jig, tack weld, rinse, repeat - a lot
