Tech Bench - Day 02 - fan holes
got prepped for 4.5" fan hole cut outs on the sides

taped off and marked off

clamped the sheet on top of a piece of scrap
notice the fan, thats to blow out the dust towards the door

x-wife stopped by with my life...

blam.
that mdf makes dust everywhere, holy hell. my shop is covered in it from yesterday when I circular sawed it

left fan hole

same deal to make right fan hole (by cpu cooler)

needed to test how im gonna actually build this f'er. had a bunch of left over 4-40 1.25" inch screws from intelli. loaded its drill bit (#43)

drilled thru a scrap, then tested turning the screw in. nice and tight

then I tested the 7/64 drill bit to see how 4-40 passes thru
not too bad

edge tested, drilled #43

then screwed in the 4-40. no bulging but I did notice some slight splitting (hard to see in pic but its there)

then I did another edge test where I tapped first, and there was no splitting, but then I realized I dont have to tighten the scres all the way because there will be 1/2" panels subtracting from the depth

tested it out on the tapped hole - no splitting
Ill do one more test, without tapping, and leaving back .5", if theres no splitting then that saves me from having to tap every hole

I wanted to mark off the fan screw holes but I couldnt find my template so thats that for today
thanks for watching
