Fan Vs Water Cooling

I am worried about how my system performs while I'm using it and usually, it's cooling that matters in some cases. I was wondering if I should stick with fan or upgrade to liquid cooling later. I can't get liquid now because it's expensive. I may do small to medium amounts of overclocking, mostly from gaming. Which one would be more suitable for me?
