WWE WrestleMania 25 predictions
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to WrestleMania!" is what you will hear this Sunday at the annual WWE flagship Pay-per-view extravaganza; WrestleMania! This year marks the WWE's 25th WrestleMania which is correctly dubbed "The 25th anniversary of WrestleMania" and will take part at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday, April 5th, 2009.
Any wrestling fan will tell you, WrestleMania is the big one. It's the Superbowl of the WWE, or professional wrestling to be exact. Many professional wrestlers dream of lacing up their boots and squaring off under the brightest lights in front of millions of fans in the battleground known as WrestleMania.
This year's WrestleMania has great potential to be one of the better ones in recent memory (WrestleMania 24 was pretty good last year, buy 22 and 23 were BAD); below are my predictions for all of the matches that will be taking part on the Pay-per-view:
Chris Jericho vs. Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat and Jimmy Snuka (with Ric Flair) - By far the strangest match of the night. It was originally going to be Mickey Rourke (from "The Wrestler" movie) vs. Jericho, but Rourke chickened out on this. So now, Jericho took his anger out on some of the Hall-Of-Famers. Jericho will definitely lose this match because as Piper says "Ol' school Is COOL!". And after the match is over, don't be surprised if you see Ric Flair knock Jericho out cold for him breaking Flair's special watch that HBK gave him.
winners: Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat and Jimmy Snuka.
John "Bradshaw" Layfield (c) vs. Rey Mysterio [Intercontinental championship match] - JBL said that he will do something big at WrestleMania. Will it be him retiring as Intercontinental champion? Who knows? This is one of the lesser talked about matches, but has great potential to excite the fans. I think that JBL has what it takes to be the victor of this match, but Mysterio is very fast. Nonetheless, I think that the self-proclaimed "Wrestling God" will show to the fans why his name should be up there with Triple H, Orton, Undertaker and the rest.
The Colóns (Carlito and Primo) vs. John Morrison and The Miz [Unification of Tag titles match] - Get ready for some fast action, high flying maneuvers in this match. All 4 of the combatants are more than capable of putting on a really great circus show in this match. And cheating is not going to be spared in this match. I think that everything from Carlito's apple to distracting the ref to pulling the tights will be present in this match. I'm going with the Colóns on this one mainly because they seem to be more prepared for this match.
Winner: The Colóns (Carlito and Primo)
Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy [Extreme rules match] - Although on paper this seems to be a good match with 2 brothers fighting each other, this is a clearly one-sided fight (Sorry Matt lovers). Jeff is faster, smarter and overall better. Yeah, Matt can swing a chair, but Jeff has amazing ring awareness and can easily use weapons for more than directly bashing his brother in the skull with. This match, as lame as it has been hyped will be lame.
Winner: Jeff Hardy
25-Diva battle royal [Winner to be crowned Miss WrestleMania] - Honestly, there is no clear favorite to win this match because we don't know all 25 competitors. WWE said that it will feature past and present divas. Will Trish Stratus be in this match? What about Candice Michelle? There are a lot of factors to be put into this match. But judging by those already confirmed, you can easily choose Beth Phoenix, Melina, Maryse or Mickie James to win this match. Personally, I would like it to either be Mickie James or Trish Stratus leaving as Miss WrestleMania.
Winner: Mickie James (or Trish if she does fight)
Money in the Bank Ladder Match - This is one of the staple matches of WrestleMania. Introduced at WrestleMania 21, this match features 8 wrestlers in an insane ladder match. The objective? Climb the ladder and get the briefcase. Inside the briefcase has the paper for you to fight any champion at any time, valid up to the next WrestleMania. This year has a lot of different styles, but in the end, I want M.V.P. to leave as Mr. Money In The Bank!
The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels - An excellent candidate for Match of WrestleMania and quite possibly Match of The Year. This match comes with the hype and it WILL DELIVER. This is one of the 2 matches that I think is worth money. In one corner, Mr. WrestleMania and in the other corner, the 16-0 WrestleMania streak. Will history repeat itself with HBK being another victim or will the heartbreak kid shock the world like he's done before in what could be regarded as one of his most controversial and biggest accomplishment? We will see at WrestleMania. But I cannot go against the Phenom. That streak is just too much to bet against
Edge (c) vs. The Big Show vs. John Cena [World Heavyweight Championship match] - Coming into this match, Edge has the best chance of walking away the winner, but his little love feud with the Big Show over Vickie Guerrero could cost him and show and have Cena leaving the match the champ. Although that might be the case, I am not going to go against the rated-R superstar.
Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton [WWE Championship match] - It's not often that a match of this insane caliber comes by. Although it might not become a big match like Hogan vs. Andre, I think that this will be one of the top 10 matches in WrestleMania HISTORY! Both Triple H and Randy Orton are incredible superstars. Both of them are destined to the the main event at their respective Hall-Of-Fame year, and both of them can put on a long fight. As soon as you see the match preview for Orton vs. Triple H, you better go to the washroom and get your snacks and drinks, because this is going to be at least 30 minutes of wrestling gold. Everything will be played out on the grandest stage of them all. As much as people are hoping for it to happen, I can't see DiBiase and Rhodes interfering in this match, it is just too good of a match. Yes, the hype has been a bit bit for this, but this match is definitely worth the $55 that you will pay to see it. As for who will win this match, Triple H has a lot of aggression to let go on Orton, but will it be enough to defeat Orton? I think not. It is time for Triple H to pass the crown over (and the gold), because the new king of kings will be crowned, and his name is RANDY ORTON!
Winner: Randy Orton
Yes, there are my predictions, I can't wait for the Orton vs. Triple H match, it will for sure be a match to remember. I would like to see your predictions. Post them below and we'll see who gets more of them right!
