Logitech G15

Just got my new Logitech G15 keyboard in the mail yesterday. $60 after mail-in rebate is an awesome price for a media keyboard with illuminated keys and two USB ports, never mind the gaming features, IMHO.

I find myself missing keys a lot more than usual, though. I've been using the same crap OEM Antec keyboard that came with my old Alienware PC (before I got into building my own PCs) for ten years now, and the keys on the G15 "feel smaller". They're NOT smaller, I've held the two keyboards side by side and they are exactly the same; but the G15 just "feels" like it has smaller keys. I can't explain it. It's hard getting used to the CTRL and SHIFT keys not being on the far left anymore too, I find myself tapping the macro keys a lot. I'll get used to it I suppose.

I really don't know what the LCD screen is going to be good for. I suppose I will find out the next time I fire up Dragon Age: Origins. But why on earth would I ever look down at a tiny LCD instead of my big monitor where the game is actually happening? This seems like a pointless gimmick to drive up the price of a "gaming keyboard", much like the vaunted anti-ghosting technology on expensive keyboards that only Korean professional StarCraft players would probably actually benefit from.

Anyway...I don't know if the deal is still going on, but if you're interested in a $60 AMIR G15 yourself, I posted the info in the Deals section a few days ago. Even though this isn't the original G15 that everyone worships, $60 is cheap for a keyboard with these features, I have found.
