Need Help

Hey im new to the whole pc thing when it comes to the components of it and i was wondering if anyone could help me. Cause my brother says its better to just buy one from a corporation but i dont know if it is or not. That and i need help on choosing what to get for the components of it. If anyone can help me it will be greatly appreciated.
