Testes Game Review 3 Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Boy am I late on this one. WAY late. But I suppose late is better than never, so let's get ahead with slamming this atrocity into the pavement.

On the surface it looks like a good game. COD4 was AWESOME, so logic would dictate the sequel would also contain awesome. It was also very cleverly marketed, with Activision's hype machine running at 110% capacity.

But then we actually start the game. First of all it's a Steam game. As in, tied to your Steam account. This is not normally a problem, but as I will mention later it is on this occasion. Activision decided to go one step further and use Steam's anti-cheat. Okay, so VAC isn't perfect, but it does work to some extent.

But wait! There's more! Activision decided to drop dedicated servers. Now I'm not one to QQ about these types of things, as I don't normally play this genre online. But really, even I don't like that it lacks dedis, and I never play MP. They replaced it with IWNet, which I will go into detail about later in the review.

Anyways, they're using VAC as the anti-cheat. Now, removing the dedis means no more serverside admin mods, so you'd think a responsible game dev would install votekick options for all players, and a ban system in-game for admins, as well as a way to specify admins.

Nope. They did not. Lobby hosts can kick people from the lobby but once in game if you have a dick in the server you are boned.

Now, Steam had a free weekend so I decided to play MP to see if it was really as bad as people say it is.

I will say that IWNet sucks. But it doesn't suck as bad as people claim. Yes, I did spend more time in lobby than I did in game. But I didn't lag, and I didn't get any hackers/toobers. It was actually somewhat okay to play. I even found it to be slightly fun. I suppose IWNet has caused all the competitive players, which normally make me want to punch babies, to not play. So from my POV it's a great success in that regard. But I still wouldn't put it into a game I made. As much as I enjoyed not being fragged by people who treat the game as if they will die IRL if they die in game, I wouldn't shaft PC gamers by denying them dedis. If a game I made had multiplayer at all it would have dedicated servers.

Now, onto SP. I'm going to outright admit that I pirated the game. I don't do that often. But this time I did. And I'm here to tell you I still felt ripped off. That's right. I didn't pay one cent for it and I still felt like I was scammed. The campaign is that horrible. With that out of the way, let us discuss the campaign itself. However, instead of going into a huge diatribe about it, I'm just going to sum it up in a simple list.

1. Hollywood cliche repository
2. Criminally short. I beat it in 4 hours flat and I suck at FPS. On hard, no less.
3. Plot? What plot? Oh, you mean that quivering mess Activision wants you to call a plot?
4. RAMIREZ, GO OVER THERE AND PISS ON THAT TREE!
5. RAMIREZ, WIPE MY ASS!
6. RAMIREZ, HERE'S HALF A MAG. GO KILL THE ENTIRE RUSSIAN ARMY
7. RAMIREZ, GIVE US DEDICATED SERVERS
8. RAMIREZ, I'M UTTERLY USELESS.
9. Need I quote that guy any more?
10. O hai thar anonymous enemy number 2890979479785908934. How's the respawner working today?
11. No Russian. While the level was deeply satisfying on a disturbingly violent level(which I should probably see a shrink for if society is anything to go by), I could not see any reason to include it aside from shock and awe. Maybe if the plot wasn't a turd laid in someone's sandvich it would have made sense.

The final nail in the coffin? You couldn't even give this piece of junk away. It's forever tied to your Steam account. This is perhaps the only thing I can rail on Steam with, the inability to get rid of games. I feel sorry for anyone who bought it. Thankfully free weekends don't stay tied to your account, once you remove the local content they disappear. So I lucked out on that one.

To tl;dr it: this game is so awful that even people who pirate it felt ripped off. I give it a 0 out of 10. Activison, gimme back the 8 hours I spent downloading this crap!
