The Outback Road Show Prep

Today I am going to spend some time working on making a Kubota RTV 1100 into a Auto steer capable machine. I know this is not really computer related, however the end result will be to plug in a Linix Powered Touch screen system to provide mapping and Guidance. This unit will be a real hack job of hydralics and electrical to make it work. I hope I will be able to make it work. This will be used to demenstrate how the Outback Guidance system works. For those who have no Idea why I am doing this, I will explain. Here at our dealership I am the Precision Farming Expert. I cover everything from variable rate seeding and Automated systems for srpraying and product incorparation into the soil as well as a Combine yield mapping to be able to provide a prescription map for farmers to apply more or less product to the field to maximize thier economic yield. I also provive the GPS automated steering system that will steer the tractor down the field in a straight line while doing all of this. I also provide technical support to the farmers over the phone and when required I go on site to make the required repairs/tweaks. This weekend is a demo day to show off our products specificlly from Hemisphere GPS. (Outback) This is a far cry from my IT support role at a computer store where my days were filled with virus filled computers from people who "never download anything" (yeah right) but when the econimy was changing my role was eliminated and this is a welcome Change. I am having loads of fun and it is an industry that is embracing change.(much to the farmers reluctance to change with it) I will update with some more pictures and let you know how the day went hacking a Kubota RTV 1100 and making it steer by it's self.
