I almost never watch TV for many reasons, but while I was cooking dinner today I turned on the TV for some background noise and happened to catch the start of the lobby scene in the Matrix. What I found absurd was the need to dub over the security guard's line. Neo passes through the metal detector and flashes the guard when he goes to pat him down. Ironically I can't type the guards one word line due to OCN's filters, but it rhymes with 'hit'. They dub 'oh shucks' or something equally silly and then without batting and eye Neo turns to his left and guns down two are three guards with his dual sub-machine guns. A harmless four letter word is bad, but gunning down security guards is entertainment. Am I missing something? I guess you could argue that those particular guards are just programs in the Matrix so killing them is OK, but you open up a whole new can of worms going that direction. I have yet to understand the majority stance in America that depicted violence is acceptable and even entertainment, while a nipple or fleeting expletive is offensive. I guess I don't understand a lot of what my fellow Americans believe or what sort of twisted logic was needed to settle on those beliefs.
