Upgrading From Athlon Ii To Phenom Ii

I currently have an athlon ii x4 620 at 3.2GHz and i am looking to upgrade because compared to the rest of my system its really lagging behind.
I have narrowed down my options to a phenom ii x4 965 BE or the phenom ii x6 1090t BE i am really only interested in gaming and kinda want my computer to be somewhat future proof
