Try lapping the top of your CPU, the IHS part

Also, how much AS5 or other thermalpaste did you put on? The amount of AS5 should have been no more then a grain of rice. If you put too little or too much it might not be efficient. For me, i just put on the AS5 then squish the HSF onto it and that works fine for me.

And the AS5 will take a while to burn in, 200 hours is the manufactur suggested burn in time. After that time the temps should be better .

If it was already very very smooth, then it might have been as good as it gets.

Honestly IMO there is no, if VERY VERY LITTLE difference when you lap the TTBT, because it is prelapped (to an extent), and it takes away so much heat at once, but can only take away as much as the ambient temp allows. I can't really think right now (so I am not going to explain very well) as I got back from a day of water skiing, but you get it right?

i usually apply about a BB sized dot of AS5 so i dont think its too much. i really dont want to lap my IHS because it would void the warranty and i still have 3 yrs left on it.

i know i know, but im a real chicken when it comes to voiding my cpus warranty.

The lap job looks like someone tried cuttnig through the copper with a butter knife and that's how it turned out. There's like...speedbumps in it.
