Default Zalman CNPS7700-Alcu vs AC Freezer 7 Pro Temperatures

I've seen several post about Zalman Coolers and some of the issues regarding them and I thought I should share my input about it as well.

I'm running the Prescott 630 3.0Ghz at 3.67Ghz right now and my idle temps are 50 Degrees C and load temps can go up to 68 Degrees C. I'm almost certain that my PC is starting to throttle. It's using the MX-1 thermal paste on the heatsink and I did the BB size squish method (this is the 3rd time doing it). The heatsink has not been lapped. I've been wanting to push my CPU to 3.75Ghz but at the current temps, its hitting a wall.

Finally, after alll this frustration, I ordered an AC Freezer 7 Pro and it should be arriving today. Once I get off work, I will put it in and see if I get any improvements over the Zalman and keep you guys posted.

This post is a matter of personal experience and is in no way biased towards any specific brand. From what I have read, the AC Freezer 7 Pro is a bang for the buck cooler and I just want to try it out. I'm not even sure if I'm comparing apples to apples. It is simply my way of giving back to such a helpful community in helping me overclock my PC.

Update: I just installed the AC Freezer 7 Pro about 20 mins ago and my temperature are as follows.
Ambient 78 F
CPU Idle 32-34 C
CPU Load 44 C

After the install my system kept rebooting with the CPU set at 3.67Ghz 245Mhz FSB. In the meantime its running at 3.6Ghz 240Mhz FSB, no time to mess around with the bios right now (will up the vcore later on). I will do that later on tonight.

Overall, I'm please with the Freezer 7 Pro. After the paste settles, the temp should drop a little more. This is definitely a good cooler to buy for the money.

Since I have the Zalman 7700 laying around, I'll probably lap and try again to see if I get better results.
Thanks everyone for your inputs.

I've had the alcu and the cu (all copper version). The cu is 10C better in performance ( I tried both on an identical set up). I was surprised to see the difference.

I hope you get better temps from the freezer pro but a better investment might have been a big typhoon (or a zalman 9500, pricier though).I went for the zalman 7700cu to the zalman 9500 and had the temps on my overclocked FX-57 drop 11C under full load.

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

I would have liked to purchase the BT but was mainly on a budget and I got the Freezer 7 Pro for 24 Shipped. I guess I will find out tonight how it performs. When I build my Conroe rig next year, I will probably get the BT cooler.

Ha...I have the 7000Cu and the 9500...and the temps dropped a lot
Considering it's about 77°F in my house 25°c/1.48v on CPU 1 and 30°c/1.54v on CPU 2 idle versus 34 idle/38 idle before with stock...Zalman gets it done

I can, but it looks confusing. You say x on CPU 1 and y on CPU 2.
I assume by now that CPU 1 is the 7000, and CPU 2 is 9500
