Hey guys, I've had this pc for a while now it's an Athlon XP Mobile 2500+ currently oc'd to 2.2ghz. I'm using a volcano 12 HSF. I bought some AS5 when I assembled this pc as my CPU came OEM without a HSF. When I first applied and booted, I was getting temps of 35c Idle and 42c load (@2.3ghz), which i thought was good.
__________________A little while ago I decided to see how high I could bring this puppy and had a stable oc @ 2.6ghz BUT the temps were Crazy high.. 49c idle 56c load. I decided to bring it down to 2.2 but it seems the temps are no longer as good as they once were. I figured the high temps might have caused some of the AS5 to dissipate or become less effective so tonight I took off the hsf, cleaned off the old AS5 with some alcohol and replied but my temps still aren't what they once were. I am now getting 42c idle and 49c load. Does anyone have any theories on what could have caused this and how i could bring my temps back down? I wouldn't mind these temps if my cpu was at 2.6 but at 2.2 it's just ridiculous.

Going Broke Overclocking

55c is the max recommended, 56c is nothing to fret about but you may want to consider that in the hot months.
What vcore are you using. When I had a 2600+ XP-M It hit over 2600MHz at 1.75v

I would not worry about it... I'm running 61C at stock speeds on my Sempy 2400+.
And no, it's not the stock cooler. You don't even want to know what the temps were there.

How long ago was the AS5 application? That stuff does dry up over time and it's recommended that you redo the application every year or so. In addition to cleaning out the dust, have you thought about lapping the HSF? Usually drops temps by a couple of degrees. Don't forget to look at the other fans in your case as well. Look for any kind of obstruction in air flow.
