Default Do super cfm fans require rheostat?

Overclockers and gamers often upgrade there fan on the Heatsink to gain more performance on their cooling. I happen to to be one of those group. But this time I'm going extreme. Most of you must have heard of Delta fans...One for hover craft. lol.
But here is my question since I'm no good with electrical stuff.
For example this one
Quote:
Manufacturer----Delta
Part #----------TFB0912UHE
RPM------------6000
Decibels--------62.0
Airflow in CFM--142.20
Wattage-------22.80
Amperage------1.90
Air Pressure----25.05
When people deal with with super fans that is high wattage and Amp, they always mention rheostat. Can anyone explain me what exactly it is?
It looks like fan controler. So if I'm not going to lower fan speed than can these fan be just hook onto 4 pin connector?
I'm using Toughpower 750W.

Thanks.

It's just used to turn down the RPM of the fan by increasing resistance => decreases amperage => lower RPM => lower dba at expense of lower CFM.

Ohm's Law:
Electric Potential Difference (Volts) = Current (Amps) x Resistance (Ohms)

Since the voltage is always a fixed rate of either 12V or 5V, in order to decrease amperage you must increase resistance (I (current) = V / R ), and that is exactly how rheostats and fan controllers work, by increasing resistance in a circuit.
Note: As you turn down RPM, the CFM decreases.

I recommend you get one because 62dba is VERY loud, unless you really need the FULL 142.2CFM.

Edit: Yes you can just hook it up to a 4-Pin Molex if you don't want to get a rheostat or any kind of fan controller.

Thanks. lol. My computer is running at basement, so I can't hear single noise. I tried running vacuum cleaner on basement and I still hear nothing, so 62dba won't be much big of a deal. I'm gonna run two of those in Thermaltake Tower 112.
The fan come with 3 pin connector so should I cut it off and connect to 4 pin connectors? or get a 4 to 3 Pin adaptor?

Edit: what is yellow wire for? most of other fans only have black and red wire to 4pin connector.

Like this 3-pin:

If so, you can just connect it into your motherboard. That way you could even control the RPM, if you decide it's too loud, through Speedfan.

You're gonna run TWO of these beasts you got guts.

Edit: 3pin to 4pin-molex adapter does sound like a better idea, that way the fans are getting power straight from the PSU.

Your computer is in your basement...and your monitor and keyboard and stuff is upstairs? Is that what you mean? Or....everything's downstairs?

If you want to actually use this computer...you're gonna need some earplugs...

Don't hook em up to a mobo...use a separate adapter. 4 pin - 3 pin...

I think:
red = 5V
black = ground
yellow = 12V

that's my understanding though.

And agreed... give it it's own power.. not through the mobo.

Sidewinder have the rheostats to handle the big delta's about $25.00 each with out knob it' $5.00 extra...Sounds expensive but when you start trying to find the right one's out there it can be a real pain in the neck. Look under fan controllers for them.....[url]http://www.sidewindercomputers.com Well that one didn't work just google....

That sounds rite for the pin out on a molex and for that fan(s) your getting should come with a molex and a single yellow wire for a rpm measure you can attach to the mobo. The tornados (as an example) have the 12v and ground conneced to a molex since the amps is to much for the mobo to supply and you could cook the mobo if you do connect the fan to a header due to the amps draw.
