nice guide always wondered how to do that and that bites what happened to the CPU at the end but hey if someone else gets it done without breaking it from reading your guide then you did your part and helped a fellow overclocker. Could I do this with my Pentium D 805 core?

Well it sucks that happened..but then you did manage to fix it..so i guess it no longer sucks.!!..Yea i remember when i first tried an IHS removal on a sempron..it ended in tragedy...one of those chips got cut off clean....but since then ive done it successfully on my venice and my sandy...btw the 3500 is a venice..only 512mb L2.

I am not 100% certain, but I think the 805s use a soft TIM, not an epoxy/solder. I actually found that the best blade to use...(try not to clown me too hard)...are the ultra thin razor blades used in a personal grooming tool, a callous and corn scraper. It is the fourth item down on this page.
Chances are though, Mom's got one lying around somewhere at home...even if she doesnt want to admit it

Anyway...the razors are incredibly thin, pliable and SHARP! Since they are dual edged...I tape one side with electrical tape and use a pair of needle nose pliers to grab and manipulate it from the taped off side. It goes through the IHS adhesive like butter...or a razor through a corn . Just take it easy and don't try to push too far.

regardless to what it is similar to... epoxy is not solder...

and with the right tools... the IHS is rather easy to remove...

Actually it is solder. Is a chemically enhanced solder formulated with silicates that bond with nickel chromate...which can be found on the exterior and interior of your IHS

you are not going to solder a copper/nickel slug to a plastic/silicone surface...

it's NOT solder... it may be a VERY tough epoxy or other adhesive... but i promise you... without a doubt... it -- is -- not -- solder...

Those are double edged shaving razor blades... you can get a 10 pack at Kroger for $.99

i don't think i've ever seen them for more then 4 bucks for a 10 pack... you'll normally find them where you can buy razors... look over there in the corner...

those are not "shaving" razor blades for a roll razor...they are too brittle, and do not cover enough surface area to be practical for shaving. They are indeed double edged blades, but for the removal of dead skin, corns and other nasties...

But I still like you anyway
