Soo as some of you may know i have a hp in my living room just for my work and faxes and what not, But i have noticed that if i leave it on for a good some of time it really heats up, it is suppose to automatically thrust the RPM's of the fans if needed but it has not done that, so my question is.....is there some kind of program to override what options hp has locked onto it?

Check on bios to see if it is set on auto or enabled, hp normaly heat up alot thats just the way their made, what I would do is get a bigger back fan or same size but with a control to raise the volume.

well it seems hp locks all the settings in the bios (No clue why...) i have already replaced the fans inside maybe wondering if they were just wearing which I'm sure they were so they aren't stock. I'm think a lot of the heat is from the case thought because of the side maybe there is limited airflow...

I'm not paranoid or anything i just would hate to have the computer shut down if i was expecting something over night or whatever the situation may be.

My HP has the bios settings locked too, so to keep it from staying at 60C (the fans would be at ~30% until it got to 62C in which they went to 50% o.o) constantly, I just use SpeedFan to manually regulate the speed.

what hp model is it?
My gf just got an hp for her birthday and the first thing i noticed when i set it up is that HP cluster Fugged the xp install... i dumped the HP version of windows and installed a normal oem copy... I noticed that al the fans on the motherboard spun faster. i also went into the bios and noticed that the manual option was already checked... so from what i can tell, it seems that in the bios the fan control was maual, or max setting speed. And the gimped HP xp install had somthing in it that over took the fan speeds... i know all HP are a little bit different, but this was my sistuation.... Maybe installing a normal oem copy of windows is an optio for you? if so i would toss in a spare hdd and try it out to see if somthing in the HP xp install is messing with things or not...
