Im from the AMD Camp, (AMD 64, 3200+ unlocked ), but im looking at a new system and the E4300 looks sexy.
__________________This is what im planning to get E4300 Gigabit DS3 P965 Corsair XMS 2 DDR2800 Nautilus 500 I been reading the forums, and see that a lot of people are hitting FSB walls. My question is, since you got a locked multi, is HIGH FSB making things unstable, (or its because the CPU clock is getting too high ) DUnno if am clear, but i dont want to spend on a water cooling setup if im going to reach the max OC with the stock H/S. ALso the main difference between the E4300 and the E6300 is the higher mulit right?

the e4300 can overclock to amazing numbers.. with the right setups.. and is certainly worth putting water on it however i would not use a gigabyte board if you are trying to do a budget build use the biostar board instead or go with a high end asus board.. as for the ram.. its okay ram but it doesnt overclock very well past default. being that its ddr800 it will get you a good overclock but not the best..

Personally I would never use water cooling. I think it is a waste of $, and something like the Tuniq Tower 120 can be better sometimes than some WC systems. If I ever got better cooling besides air cooling, it would be a TEC.

not sure if you need to water cool it. just got one this week, and i pushed it to 2.7Ghz on stock everything. it's great. not even close to it's limit. idle runs around 32c and on full load maybe reaches 50c! this is an amazing chip and i would definitely recommend to anyone. games are beautiful, no lag whatsoever.

I watercool my 4300. I'm OC'ed pretty nice too. I have my VCore cranked up pretty good so I need all the cooling I can get.

Water is not worth it, sorry.
__________________I mean yeah, 3-4 years ago it was a Lan Party special. Having water put you above and with the in-crowd, because it showed you were dedicated enough to have the best cooling possible, but sadly, that's not the case anymore. Tuniq, Zalman, Arctic Cooling, Thermalright and so on, have all found passive cooling solutions that are comparable to water set ups, and without the inconvenience of cleaning, moving a water set up, the cost. In order for you to create a water cooling set up that would be comparable to a Tuniq Tower or Ultra 120, you'd have to spend at least $250. And let me ask, if you're going to spend $250 to compare to a $50 heat sink, why do it at all? The only logical reason to go with water over air nowadays, is noise. And remember, no matter how cool you keep your processor, cranking up the Voltage will damage your processor regardless.

What TAT temps are you getting? Im using the Nautilus and im getting 70C under full load. @ 3.2G (8 x 400, 1.475 volts ) Seems kinda high for a water setup.

Diminishing rate of returns. If you need water cooling (300+ bucks) on an E4300 (170 bucks) to get it to overclock like an E6600 (300 bucks) with a Tuniq Tower (50 bucks), you're defeating yourself here. If we factor in maintenance and the ever so present "oops factor", your best bet is a decent air setup with the money going towards a better processor.
