rez bump:

prolly wasnt measuring temp right- my 5000be says -1*c idle and 25 load, but its on water.

nice mod. on v2 maybe you should add a fan in that long line to help draw some air

weren't some c2d's 'stuck' and had to be raised to a certain temp before it fixed the diode??

I can solve this super mystery!

AC units are designed to cool an entire room. By putting out temperatures lower than 50 60 degrees it can cool the room quicker, and shut off when temperatures reach what you have selected, then revert to just regulating it. This saves energy, making the machine more efficient.

If you think about it, if AC units only put out air at 50 or 60 degrees, it would take FOREVER to cool a room. Think about it logically, lol.

Thats like maintaining 1 ice cube in a room temp glass of water. It would take awhile to get cold, if ever.

Now if you drop 6 ice cubes...magic happens.

Hence, 40 degrees is reasonable, considering is mostly channeled to his CPU, and its probably what the machine outputs.

You're gonna break your comp on a humid day doing that....

AC units are best used during the winter (kind of odd, I know) but you can get killer temps without risking destroying your entire comp

the ac is supposed to cool the room to a specific temp, so itll work hard to get it to the tempature it is required to get to. the hosing to the cpu is a contained space for that air to go, there is less to cool to get it down to what it should be. so the AC is working to get a 80F room to 60F but it does not need all of that power to get the CPU cooler. thats a bad way to explain how i think its going, but im sure someone will understand what i mean
