Default 33c loaded on ~137w, woah

I seriously love this cooler so much... when I initially got it I had about 41c loaded, but after re-lapping it (I bought it lapped), I got 39c, then after putting a new fan on (Antec TriCool) I got 35c, and now after AS5 has burned in I'm running 33c on my core.

I love my Big Typhoon

PS. Do you guys reckon I should take off the IHS? I bring my computer around fairly much (currently it's every week day - in a week it's going to be 1-4 times a month), so I don't think it would be a very smart idea.

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

I saw someone do this on here, but if you do take the IHS off, cut some squares out of a rubber band and place them like the old load pads on the Semprons.

But if you still don't wanna risk it, I'd say no. I know the sadness of chipping a core.

and how would you fit the cooler on tight without the ihs? would it not be too big for the chip itself? and its not perfectly flat under there, either.

I love my BT with my Silverstone FM121 fan. I lapped mine to 1500 grit as well as the IHS. My load temps are around 35c load at 3003mhz. I just can't complain about that!

I don't have the VX--it's the old style one that's screw down, so I could basically just screw it far down enough.

BTW. I remember ThaWaxShop saying that he mounted his BT hard enough on his Opteron that he "got blue in the face" lmao.
