Wow imageshack shafted me sorry guys.

Delete please

either way
I have got the temps that I was looking for and I figure that after a few days of setting in the AS5 will prob drop a few. It is so great to finally be in a good place

Ended up being the exact down to the last drop of my AS5 tube and all along I was applying the layer way to thin.....always thought it was supposed to be super thin. I guess that is just with nice lapped HS and IHS's either way I got the amount down now I think and I am out of AS5 if that tells you how many times I have gone through this..and with not enough.

Speedfan gives the same reading so I just put core temp.
Core Temp 2.25v @2.4Ghz
44C
42C

Core Temp 3.25v @ 2.92Ghz
46C
44C

Given my pretty high ambient temps 24C now btwn 22C and 25C average I am stoked at this and havnt had much load testing but I have seen the temps rise and drop fast showing some good cooling So once I load it hopefully I'll be stable at OC we will see.

You shouldnt put thermal paste on the bottom of your heatsink, only on the processor. (Not sure if you did that or not.)

If you are getting good temps I wouldn't worry about it.

Personally I would reseat, wipe it clean, and apply a line down the processor like the AS5 sites says. Unless you did that in the first place.

Actually...

You should put a small amount of as5 on the heatsink, rub it all around with your finger, than take a paper towel and wipe it all off. Now I know all of you are like "Thats stupid, put it on...then wipe it off?"

Well when you do the above, as5 gets in all the microgrooves or your heatsink, which equals better overall contact.

I removed my Zalman Super thermal grease last night after a case mode to add a 120mm fan on top of my case. At any rate after applying AS5 in replacement of the Zalman grease my temps were at 42c idle. I ran orthos. Heated up both cores and then shut it down, allowing time to cure. today my temps are 30c idle after curing phase. I'm happier with AS5, and Murlocke is absolutely correct about AS5 placement, retro's advice also sounds like it makes sense, although I hadnt thought of that, good one retro. Remeber that it must cure, and too much is as bad as not enough.
