Just a question..... I have got the temps that I was looking for and I do think that my heatsink is properly seated. Although I do think it does not look right to me. My question is how far apart should the heatsink be from the IHS I can actually see about maybe where there is a MM to .5MM between them i can actually see where they meet the paste is that normal...and yes I am sure that the HS is properly seated and I can show pics fro proof

There should not be any space between the heatsink and the IHS. The whole point is tight contact to ensure heat transfer.

Why did you double post the same exact question?

how are you seeing between them is your mobo not in a case??? i wouldnt think being able to see between them is a good thing i think you are probably using to much thermal paste

yes the mobo is out of the case......im telling you guys the HS is on properly....If I use too little thermal paste there will be like no contact at all it almost seems like I should be able to push it down closer but I have tried to just budge it a little bit closer and it will not move at all I can see that a space is there when I shine a flashlight at it I had some pics but they were blurry and you couldn't really tell
__________________Basically i see where the HS is then I can actually See where there is paste...and then I can see where the IHS meets the paste. It is only on the backside that I can see in as things are blocking all other sides. What do you suppose I do? Sorry if I double posted must of been an accident

Lap your heatsink first, this will bring it closer having a flatter object against the ihs. If light is still seen then you will have to lap the cpu, assuming your comfortable doing so.

Are you confusing the flip clamp with the IHS?

It wasn't an accident, you spelled the word "help" with a capital one time, and lower cased the other. Busted!
