Default Gemin II vs. TT Big Typhoon

for me on the quad it seems the Gemin II wins hands down. i couldnt even leave the bios without a heat issue when the quad was overclocked on the big typhoon. both sinks are lapped, hmm i expectedthe big typhoon to aleast keep up

You mounted it wrong then, because the Big Typhoon VX scores 1C lower than the Gemin II according to the reviews I saw.

Big Typhoon is way better than stock, I don't see how you figure it wouldnt let you get into the bios. Stock would be screwed then..

My big typhoon VX kept my QX6700 at 3.2GHz for over 8 months.

Are you talking the normal Big Typhoon? Because its stock fan is horrible..

Its been known that a higher end fan on the normal big typhoon lowers temps dramatically.

What? lol..

The older BT isn't much of a competition. It's the BT VX that can keep up.

I would try a higher end fan on the big typhoon, and a reseat.

The BT is crap compared to the BT VX.

BT VX pushes 86CFM
BT pushes 54.4CFM

Thats a big difference. The Big typhoon likes case flow as well, because it is smaller. If you have good case air flow then the Big Typhoon should be scoring better, if you put atleast a 86CFM fan on it.

Well for one, the fan is at 60% speed. Unless you have a very big fan that pushes around 140CFM at 100%, 60% is still not 86.6CFM.

Folding and getting 51C on a quad core is well beyond cold.... Most quads get in high 60s and low 70s under load when overclocked.

Is this a B3 or G0?
Is it a Q6600 or QX----?

Geminii dominates if you have (2) low CFM fans (<50), BT dominates if you have high case airflow (caseless =/= good airflow) with high CFM (75+) fans.
