Hey all.
__________________I just built a new system with a G0 Q6600 and a Tuniq Tower for cooling. My temperatures weren't as good as I expected, so I decided to reseat the hsf. After reseating my Tuniq Tower for the third time, I only got about a 5*C drop from the original temps. Here are my idle temps: [img=http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/6105/tempstl3.th.jpg] Not sure which program is giving me accurate temps though. Ambient is around 29*C So here is my question, although anyone is welcome to give any other advice. When I install the cooler, I have been screwing the screws down completely, so you can no longer see the threads on the screws. Should I be screwing them down all the way? Im using AS5, following the application guide on their website (line across the IHS). Any help would be great. I would like to overclock this, but temps are always an issue. Oh, by the way, I have 1 120MM intake and 2 120MM exhaust fans in the case (Antec P182), all of them are on high settings. And the tuniq tower fan is set to high. Gots to go to work now >< Sucks but have to make money for college somehow. Thanks in advance.

Well those temps are not bad with 29c ambients mine are around there too and i get about the same temps, mine are higher but i have mine clocked at 3.4ghz.
I would not worry about those temps they seem all right to me, and as for seating the tuniq i just screw them down untill they are nice and tight and the heatsink doesnt move or rock at all.

Those temps seem fine for summer time. And after the paste sets in after a week or two you will see another drop.

Thanks for the replies. I finally am back from work...long day..
__________________So at stock they seem ok...but Im planning at some point to Oc this CPU. So out of curiosity, about how much of a temp increase would I see (@idle) if I Oc'd to 3.0Ghz? Also, is there any program or way to check Northbridge temps? Thanks again~

Who cares about idle. Put a load on that thing and report back. That is what really matters.

Sure, I'll report back in a bit. I ran Prime95 for a bit, and temps seemed to go up only 10*C or so. But I didnt let it run that long. Maybe 5 min.
__________________I'll do more extensive testing tonight (Memtest for a few hours, and then Prime95) but in the meantime, I have to get a lot of stuff installed lol. edit: Oh, and as you can see in my Speedfan window, it says VCore1 1.22V and VCore2 1.89V. Im pretty sure that isn't exactly normal. Any thoughts? Might this have to do with the fact that I have the 8pin power connector connected instead of the 4pin power connector? My motherboard can take the 4pin CPU connector (as it originally comes with a cap over the other 4 pins).

__________________Here ya go: ![]() Any ideas on the VCore thing? Like I said, using 8pin cpu connector, instead of 4. Im guessing this is why Im getting 2 readings. Also, looks like there is better thermal transfer on cores 2 and 3. Maybe I should reseat again....what a pain lol. I have to take motherboard out of the case to reseat. Anyone have any other methods other than the line across the IHS, or should I stick with that? And incase you are wondering, Im too chicken to lap anything, so Im going to go ahead and say no to that, just in case you were thinking about it ![]()
