Default Should I lap my Ultra 120 Extreme on a Q6600 G0

Pretty sure the answer is yes on this, but just want to make sure.

I just installed a brand new Thermaltake Ultra 120 Extreme on a Q6600 G0 at 1.3 vcore.

Idles are about...
Core0:52
Core1:49
Core2:49
Core3:49

Prime95 on all 4 cores gets it up to 75C in no time
Also Core0 seems to heat up way faster than the others.

Should i lap it? I should be getting better temps than this at 1.3vcore, even on a Q6600 G0 i would think.
It was obviously convex and kinda rocked like a rocking chair lol.
I'm almost positive i did a good installation job, i've gotten quite good at this.

Don't give me that AS5 curing crap, that will only drop like 2C off, if even. I have yet to have AS5 "cure" and give me better temps.

Do the razorblade check to be sure which of the two surfaces is actually more curved before lapping. You may only have to lap the heatsink, but you may also need to lap the IHS as well.

I'm sure you'll also get the "What's your ambient temp?" question also. Ambient temps do play a lot into this factor.

I'm not sure what normal temps are for your proc so I can't really say too much. All I can say is that I'm sure lapping your Ultra 120 and your IHS won't hurt your temps at all.

The CPU is fairly flat. It's just average. I don't want to bust the warranty on the G0 if i don't have to. I'm just going to go lap the ultra 120 extreme now i guess, it's 12:00 AM but meh, i'm bored anyways.

Yeah forgot to mention ambient, but even with a high ambient that seems high. My ambients like 26 or 27 atm...

Yes yes, I already saw your successful lapping thread.

But....question. Are you using the 8pin or 4pin power connector for the CPU? I use the 8pin and Im wondering if that is contributing to higher temps. In my brother's computer, I put in a stock cooler on a e6550 and he gets like 20*C idle. Whereas I get about 40*C idle with my Q6600 with an aftermarket cooler.

I had this posted in my other thread, just see what your thoughts are seeing as you and I have the same board.

Your Q6600 is basically double the processor your brother has. It should be no suprise that 2 dual cores on one die put out double the heat 1 dual core does.
