Why do you have such a high v core? I am on 1.28 and running 3Ghz... I dont get it...
I am well aware of coretemp. But they both measure accurately. Both have always given me the correct reading.
Only thing i had to do with speedfan was offset the temps 15C. Coretemp doesn't work with vista anyways, i think. Irregardless i don't need help monitoring my temps, these are accurate.

I also know about Small FFT, it actually generates a little less heat.

I'm still tuning the vcore... i just started very high to be safe. I came from a poor E6600 stepping that takes 1.5375 for 3.6Ghz, i expected this to take a lot more hah.
Right now i'm just over 1.4 vcore and testing it.

Hey Dez, nice job on the lap. One or two things here:

The Rocker is right: SmallFFTs generate more heat than any of the others and also stresses your CPU much more. If you want to find out if you're really stable, run the new Prime on all four cores SmallFFTs and report back your temps.

On your first core being hotter, it might help if you had a re-seat. As much as core spread is applicable to Q6600's, that kind of spread seems unnatural and I would definitely suggest trying another seat just to be sure. It won't hurt anything.

Kinda makes me wish I had accepted my order for the lapped Ultra 120!

Go go go go!

Has everyone stopped using TAT? Why? Loads like the dickens and you're not going to find anything to make your cpu run hotter?

I've done small FTT's. It's fine.

I'm not reseating it again lol, that core has been hot both all 3 times, with the stock, the unlapped ultra 120 extreme, and the lapped ultra 120 extreme.
Probably due to the IHS being concave or deformed around that core.

I would probably only be able to lower it a degree or two, if even.

Right now they loading pretty low... I lowered the vcore a tad but this is a pretty big drop lol. It's staying under 62-60 hah...

Orthos and Prime95 are unrealistically high in terms of load and heat as it is. TAT is like monstrous overkill lol.

But i do use for fun just to see how high it gets, i might try TAT later just for shats and giggles. Does TAT work with quads?

Yeah.... all the stress testers put your cpu under more stress than it will ever see under normal conditions...

That's an excellent question, lol, I'm not sure. It does seem though that TAT was "the" utility to use if you had an intel chipset and then one day, all of a sudden, everyone stopped using it. Imho its' extreme load really limits oc because it heats so much but isn't that the safe thing to do (test at max)?
