Default SUCCESS Lapped Ultra120Extreme + Q6600!

S - U - C - C - E - S - S

That's the way...

YOU SPELL SUCCESS

First off results after lapping.
*thermalright ultra 120 extreme was lapped, Q6600 G0 was just rubbed down with water*

Before.

Idle at up to 50c.
Load up to 75c.

After

Idle up to

Core0: 42C
Core1: 38C
Core2: 38C
Core3: 36C

Load up to

Core0: 56C *This core likes to be hot : ], it also likes to jump up and down 2-3 degrees*
Core1: 52C
Core2: 50C
Core3: 48C

I'm a little that those are beating my temps on my lapped TT120 and lapped E6600 at 1.45 vcore lol. And this is a quad!

Anyways OMG This thing was so hard to lap. After 2 hours of 320 grit, it STILL wasn't entirely flat. Luckily the middle area was flat, just the outer edges.
So it's 2:00 AM when i start on some 1000 grit just to smooth it off. I was way to pissed off to get it mirror finished, i was just happy with it being smooth.

Also i tried an interested AS5 technique, something i have been pondering...
I did the usual Audi's AS5 Mod, small amount down the middle.
But added in my own kick.
Near each of the 4 corners of the IHS i dropped an ever so small drop of as5.
That was something i was always wondering about, since the line down the middle only covers about 40% of the IHS. I figured maybe covering 20% - 40% more might help a little, even if it isn't on the core. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. I can tell you one thing though, it sure didn't hurt the temps.

I stayed up till 4:00 AM to lap, that's how bored i am.

Oh and that hole thing about how Thermalright made it convex to fit the CPU is bogus. Look at these results, using the same CPU, which is just as concave as your average CPU. Imagine if i lapped the Q6600. *twilight zone music players*

Now i'm going to see how high i can get it.

I will probably be on that train soon with my q66. I am at 1.41v and average 55 load.

Pretty nice temps. Now i'm at 1.4375 i think., 3500MHz. It's chugging through prime95 still very nicely, at 2hours 15 minutes stable.

That's def gaming stable, i don't like the temps hitting 70c though But it is Texas and the ambient is killing it hah... 3 hours and i'm going to call it quits and lower the vcore

Err i am not too sure if they are that good....

I have an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and my Idles are between 34 and 40... load is between 45 and 60 MAXIMUM.

Thats with my Q6600 B3 @ 3Ghz.

My load at 3GHz was

Quote:
Core0: 56C *This core likes to be hot : ], it also likes to jump up and down 2-3 degrees*
Core1: 52C
Core2: 50C
Core3: 48C
Never got close to 60c.

Now i'm just a tad under 1.45 vcore, so the temps are expected to be fairly high.

I'd like to see your arctic freezer 7 pro handle 1.45 vcore and prime95 on all 4 cores lol.

I did have 1.45 v core with 3Ghz before i learned how to overclock.... Temps were like 40 idle and 60 load.

Run two instances of Orthos Small FFT test and make sure you are using all cores (change affinity in task manager).... It gives higher temps than Prime95.

And you are using coretemp i hope.

This is vista, speedfan works fine.

And Prime95 loads all 4 cores.

This thing is doing a better job than my lapped TT120 and lapped E6600, i'm pretty sure there isn't much room for improvement.

Not to mention the HSF is actually heating up, a sign of good thermal conduction.

I seriously doubt an arctic freezer pro can keep a Q6600 B3 under 60C load at 1.45 vcore. But innocent until proven guilty i guess.

Many people will tell you that speefan is not as near as accurate as coretemp... So just to be safe, use coretemp to measure coretemps...

And Orthos Small FFT test stresses the cores more and generates much more heat... I suggest you run that for 5 mins and watch the temps rise even more.....

Why do you have such a high v core? I am on 1.28 and running 3Ghz... I dont get it...
