After replacing the fan on my Tuniq Tower with the Silverstone FM-121 and being pleased with the temp drop I went out and got four more Silverstones with which to replace my 4 120mm case fans. However, I was thinking of spraypainting them black to match my black Antec 900 (I doubt I'd like the zebra look much). Does anyone think the small increase of weight due to the paint and different material on the fan's surface would affect the fan's performance?

I would def not do that, spray paint would go everywhere including into the motor.

Should be fine. Just apply a light even coat and be careful of the motor area.

Definitely don't do that.
It will go everywhere inside the fan, so big chances you'll be off buying new ones after that.

So, what if the sensitive areas are taped off? I wouldn't just go nuts with the spraypaint.

Ive seen it done before, and it worked fine afterwards.
Grab an old fan and try it on that first.

CyberD spraypaints fans with no issue.

make sure to tape off anything you dont want painted, and any openings into the motor, but also make sure you keep your coat is pretty even, if you get one side to heavy it might make it unbalanced and make it noisy and/or shorten the life of it
