Well as the title states i have an Intel E6600 with a Zalman heatsink and Arctic Silver 5.

Im trying to figure out why my cpu is at 40c? Both me and my friend have tried various applications of arctic silver 5 and it always ends up around 40c. Right now i have the AS5 on the way it says on the AS5 manual. Also, why exactly is the Aux at 127c?

Don't pay attention to Aux. As for your temp compared to your friend, there are more variables than just what cooler you use. Ambient temperatures affect the CPU temps a lot. If your system's Ambient is much higher than your friend, that could be it. Find out your friends Ambient temperature and compare it with your own. Also, your Zalman could also be not seated completely flat against the chip either because it isn't completely flat, or it just needs to be seated again.

I'm pretty sure the Heatsink is flat on the chip, I've installed it quite a few times and i've made sure the screws are completely tight.
