I have 120mm fan it has 3 pin and 4 pin molex connecter but my mother board has different type of 4 pin connecter for cpu fan, where can i get that? or should i just plug the 4 pin molex to my power supply?
__________________my mother board is GA DS3P has this pins 4 pin CPU_FAN 4 PIN SYS_FAN2 3 PIN PWR_FAN 3 PIN SYS_FAN1 so currently i have 5 case fan and one cpu fan, which one should i plug in my mother board? what is hell is north bridge fan header? it says on the manual connect the north bridge fan cable to this header.

Shouldn't it fall under the category of a PWR_FAN? If not then I guess you have to buy an adapter from Newegg.com or something.

The 4 pin cpu fan and sys fan connectors of for PWM capable fans. Normally a 3 pin fan will plug in, just one pin will not be used. The plastic tab that sticks up should be the width of a normal 3 pin fan, so just plug it in like you would any other fan.
Plug the cpu fan into the CPU_FAN connector, and the case fans really don't matter, you can plug them into the other fan connectors, or straight into the psu. And a fan header is the connector on the motherboard.

You can control the RPM if you have a PWM fan/mobo. With software like speedfan. PWM is sending pulses of electricity rather than a constant stream to slow a fan (or any motor) down. (or speed it up).

ok, I should have worded that differently
3 wire fans have power, ground and a rpm sense lead. They can be controlled by PWM(pulse width modulation) which just turns the fan on and off really fast. the motherboard controls the duty cycle, or the percentage of time the fan is on compared to the time it's off. 4 wire fans have the PWM circuitry built into the fan itself(thus pwm capable), and they also use a higher PWM frequency to lessen noise. That is the purpose for the 4th pin is for the mobo to tell the fan how fast to run. You should connect the cpu fan to the CPU_FAN connector, and the case fans that are 3 pin to the others, unless you use a separate fan controller, in that case just the cpu fan will be connected. As far as controlling fan speed, you'll have to check in you BIOS to see if it is enabled. The 4 pin connectors probably won't let you control speed with the 3 pin fans, PWR_FAN usually has no control, but the 3 pin SYS_FAN1 might be controllable.
