I'm thinking about buying an AC64 or Enzo and lapping it. (Going to test on an old heatsink first dont worry

I understand the whole thing about havng a smooth surface and the sandpaper and all that, but what I am VERY confused about is how I'm supposed to drag to heatsink across the sandpaper...NOONE has ever mentioned that in their guides or anything. I can't really grasp how it is supposed to work...can someone please clarify? Thank you

If you lap the Enzo you'll mess it up.
Thing comes prelapped.

Practice with a unused cooler first. You want to let the weight of the cooler do the work, and not apply any extra pressure. You just want to be able to guide the heatsink across the paper. The most common problem you're likely to have is catching the edge of the cooler on the paper(I know I did at first), all I can tell you is practice will teach you the right amount of pressure to use.

You guys still aren't answering my question though...how do I actualy go about lapping it...do I PUSH/PULL/DRAG/SLAP/ETC across the sandpaper? And do I use my hands to do it?

Unless you have telekinetic powers, yes, you'd use your hands.
![]() Without knowing which guides you read I don't know how to explain to you how to do the actual motion of lapping. Basically you'll just move the heatsink across the sandpaper in one direction, and then back the other, either back and forth or side to side, all the while holding it steady enough to keep it from being tilted one direction or the other and leading to a surface that isn't truly flat.
