Default Pentium D 805 cooling

I just ordered a Pentium D 805 for 40 bucks and want to know a good cooler, for less than I payed for the CPU that will get me a high overclock. This CPU is supposed to be able to run up to 4.1 from what I've read, but not on stock cooling. I don't have much experience with coolers (I'm looking for an air cooler here) so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Here are some for $30-40. But it won't help that much than stock.

I really hate it when people answer my post about budget questions with a "well you should just get this.. or get that instead" and these items always end up being $10-30 more than my budget but I can see their point now. It really is worth the extra $. So let me explain my story....

After having Thermaltake's Big Water SE liquid cooling and having algae form in the tubes from bad care I replaced it all with stock heatsink waiting to save up for air cooling. I couldn't overclock because the stock heatsink was extremely terrible. Then just yesterday (after about 4 months of saving) I purchased the Zalman CNPS9500 and it idled at 33C and 38C load. Now after I've overclocked my Pentium D 805 to 3.6. It idles at 38C and goes up to 49C at full load. For $50 + free shipping at newegg you should really just invest in it. For $10 more than what you're willing to spend you can probably get a good speed that's almost 1ghz passed the stock speed.

Keep in mind, Fry's eletronics had a special on Corsair XMS2 800mz Memory so I bought 2gb of that to replace the 667Mhz ram in my motherboard. I replaced my old 667Mhz ram with this one because overclocking 667Mhz to 720Mhz on my old RAM really heated it up. Although my mobo doesn't truly support 800mhz ram, after tweaking and overclocking my new ram it runs at 720Mhz. So technically this new ram I purchased is underclocked but it stays very cool.

I can give you extra tips on how to really make a good contact with the heatsink and CPU if you purchase that heatsink. (For example: I cleaned then sanded the CPU of all the old arctic 5 silver and I then buffed a tiny tiny layer of Arctic 5 Silver into any crack that might have arise from sanding or cleaning, then I added my final coat of Arctic 5 silver smoothing it all out with a razor blade)

So in a nutshell: Get the Zalman if you're worried other bigger heatsinks won't work well. I have the Gigabyte GA-G1975x and it has a couple of "air tunnels" around the CPU that I was worried would prevent the Zalman from fitting, but I think if it can fit in my mobo, it can surely fit in any mobo.

Ya if you buy cheap your going to get what you pay for usualy. That tt polo 735 is loud but it did keep my pressy fairly cool not sure how it will do on a pd. They 3 would be good coolers and the tuniq tower is on sell for 47 good deal.

unfortunately I'm stuck at 3.24GHz with this motherboard for the moment because it allows only up to +.03 increase in CPU voltage, so I'm probably going to have to invest in a new motherboard first. Thanks for your input though, I will consider it once I have a new board, rep +s all around
