well i've heard some ppl have had problems w/ the TT and the Gigabyte 965p mobos. I had one mouted on such a mobo, and I believe it killed it.
I had posted about this awhile back and some ppl had similar problems and had fixes. however i've forgotten what that fix was, lol. I'm planning on possibly mounting my new TT I got on RMA to my Open Box rev. 3.3 mobo I also go on RMA(1st time newegg has ever dissapointed me). I'd also like to do the 1333 FSB pin mod (it's ok to link to other forums, right?) on my e6600 and the rev. 1.3 supposed ly doesn't support 1333, even tho newegg specs showed it did @ the time... *sigh* the original fiasco happend when i dissasembled my rig for cleaning and cable management and i'm plannign on swapping up to my rev 3.3 and mounting a TT in addition to cleanign up and doing cable management. I hope this time it isn't jynxed like last time :/ This sunbeam silent whisper w/ push-pull fans is doing fine but I really would like more, and i have a brand-spanking new TT jsut sitting next to me... in conclusion I basically just need some tips on how to do this cuz last time something obviously got f'd up. Thx, DesertRat

well.. read the review here in my sig about 1066 vs 1333. the boards that support conroe ALL support 1333. they MAY boot the cpu at 1066 which means it will be clocked lower than stock, so you can just bump up to 1333 and OC from there.
as for the installation, i once fried a P5NE sli and a P965-S3 while installing a big typhoon. I think it was a static charge. Make sure you're wearing one of those grounding cables, if you dont have one, keep one of your legs ON the silver metalic part of the case to ground yourself ![]() Also, make sure the backplate of the TT doesnt touch the bottom of the mobo tray, you might short out there too...

ya i had no problems putting my tuniq on my abit ip35-e tho one time when i took it off and put it back on i couldnt get a post. I undid it and tighted it back down and it worked so maybe you had it to tight at somepoint and broke a trace.

hmmm, ok. thx.
well the mem multis on my 965p don't allow for a perfect 333 to DDR2 800. 833 is the closest and it defaults to 1000 when i put it @ 333. Also I can't boot w/ stock volts @ 333. So I figured i'd force the cpu to 333 and see what happens, lol. Also, is it ok to leave the backing of the adhesive on? So i can use the HSF later on another rig if i want... Another thing. I have what appears to be screen artifacts in the lower area of my screen, just a few, almost like dead pixels, but they go away as soon as windows boots. They do however stay through out the boot-up. any ideas what these are? And to continually divert for the thread's topic What should i set my pci-e clock frequency to? and does this have any impact on OC capabilities, cuz it seems i can't oc for crap.

Ya but i like how i know its not going to fall out if a pin comes loose and intel specs says if its over 500 grams it needs its own mounting setup i thk.
