Default Best Cooler

Ok, so... Im sure you all will hate me for posting this question... but I will make it as specific as I can...

I dont want to get the Thermalright 120 Extreme because I dont want to lap it. Plus this cooler with a good fan will almost run me into the cost for liquid cooling anyhow.

I dont want to get the Tuniq Tower because I have one, tried it, and the weight of it bent my motherboard causing it not to boot... and I lost the backplate so it is really useless to me now.

I will be using it on an IP35 Pro and in an Antec 900 case...

I want something that will be easy-ish to install and I am fine with a backplate as long as it is not the kind of backplate with the adhesive like the Tuniq had... because it was a ***** to get off.

I think this only leaves me with the Zalman 9700... or maybe the Thermaltake V1... but I dont like the idea of those little plastic clips holding that weight.

So, with all of my "specifications" in mind... what would be my best option.

Also I may consider liquid cooling, but I do run my PC 24/7, so that may not be an option.

Well you just shunned the two best ones on the market. At this point if you are looking to cool your CPU enough to allow some OCing headroom then I would say you are beat. The reason I say this is because all the good HS are big and heavy and will cause the same problems. Although I must admit that I never heard of a HS bending a MB. I have my TT and so do many many others and we love it with no bending issues.

Scythe "INFINITY" 5 HeatPipes CPU Cooler is as efficient as an Tuniq Tower yet it costs only $39 at the egg.

Is there an article I can read that confirms that, or is that just from personal experience?

Also, will that cooler be better than the Zalman 9500/9700?

I second this opinion. I use the same thing, at 1.5V I load at 36C. IT's a great cooler. It's also low-profile, no taller than the stock cooler in some cases. IT is long and wide, tho, but that's because you can fit two 92MM fans on it(The size of the fins exactly) or two 120MM fans, which hang over the sides a bit to cool the other stuff.

Hello, I'm using Zalman9500LED for 3-4 months. It cools really good, at 3.6GHz I've not seen core temp higher than 48C! It's a bit expensive but I think if you plan to keep your system OCed 7/24 good solution. I was using my system at 3.2GHz at %100 load 7/24 and no cooling problems. Now I'm testing 3.6GHz on that heavy load. Also Zalman 9700Led has nearly twice cooling area as 9500 has. It's pure copper. I dont know some other coolers but I'm sure these are much better than Big Typhoon. I hope this message helps you. Bye.

That thermaltake V-1 is good. But it is a pain in the behind with the antec 900. That zalman is deffinately easier and exactly what you are looking for. Get it you will not regret it.
