What is a TRUE? A Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU Heatsink. Here are some links to reviews on the TRUE. The purpose of this thread is for us to share advice and answer questions regarding the TRUE. I will no longer be updating the list below. I think we have a pretty good idea on what temps to expect from what is already here. ru7hl355 Q6600 GO @ 3.6 1.3v, Scythe Slipstream 1900 rpm, ambient 18c, idle 39c, load 50c MasterShake lapped TRUE Athlon X2 5600+ @ 3.1, 1.45Iv 2 x Silverstone, 110 cfm ambient 25c, idle 38c, load 52c jhick Q6600 GO @ stock clock, 1.3v 2 x Slipstream, 110 cfm @ 1900 rpm ambient 22c, idle 34c, load 48c amitashr TRUE+Q6600 @ 3Ghz idle 36, load 48-50, ambient 30 spacegoast lapped TRUE E6750 @ 3.5, 1.44v Antec Tri-Cool idle 25c, load 45c Robilar Q6600 GO @ 3.6, 1.4825v Silverstone FM121 ambient 22c, idle 32, load 52c dmhnc my specs have changed will update soon tkl.hui Q6600 GO @ 3.6, 1.475v Scythe S-Flex, 1600rpm ambient 25c, idle 37c, load 58c justarealguy Q6600 GO @ 3.6, 1.375v Panaflow, 114 cfm ambient 24c, idle 31c, load 52c The Rocker lapped TRUE lapped Q6600 B3 @ 3.2, 1.325v 2 x Silverstone FM122, 107 cfm ambient low 20's, idle 32c, load 55c franz E6600 GO @ 3.4, 1.5v Scythe S-Flex FSFF21F, 63.7 cfm @ 1600 rpm ambient 22c, idle 24c, load 48c Duckydude lapped TRUE lapped Q6600 GO @ 3.4, 1.376v 2 x 120 idle 24c, load 48c afzsom lapped TRUE lapped E6600 @ 3.6, 1.425v Panaflo FBA12G12H1, 103 cfm @ 2400 rpm ambient 21c, idle 30c, load 55c wuyanxu Q6600 GO @ 3.4, 1.5v 2 x Noiseblocker XL2, 55 cfm @ 1400 rpm ambient 25c, idle 40c, load 66c luk lapped TRUE Q6600 B3 @ 3.0, 1.375v Nanoxia, 2000 rpm ambient 23c, idle 34c, load 63c yannis7777 Q6600 GO @ 3.6, 1.39v Big Typhoon 120mm fan & Zalman 120mm fan ambient 20c, idle 31-36c, load 50-65c total90 Lapped TRUE Q6600 GO @ 3.0, 1.34375v fans : (in) thermaltake, 2000 rpm (out) yate loon, 1650 rpm ambient 24c, idle 33c, load 54c ************ MOD SECTION ************ Thanks to s1rrah for this link to "High Pressure Mount Mod" Thanks "money11465" for this Mod link on how to increase pressure to cpu. I am in support of this thread as this is a great heatsink and here is my contribution:
This is what my lapped TRUE 120 looks like: ![]() Temps are amazing. idling 34-38 on a B3 Q6600 with 1.46 V Core! I added a second silverstone FM122 fan for push pull and now here are my idles with this CPU configuration.

Thanks for bringing lapping up The_Rocker. Was your base flat before you lapped? BTW, great pic!
__________________I just ordered my TRUE this morning so it will not be in my hands till a few days from now but I do intend to lap it if it's not very flat before I install. In the FrostyTech review they talk about the TRUE not being flat. The TRUE still did very well even with about 25% of the base not making contact with the gpu. Quote:
![]() I hope this is a rare problem. Have any of you experienced this?

C2D E6600 (lapped) @ 3.6GHz, 1.425v (BIOS set, 1.416v idle, 1.424v loaded Orthos)
Ambient: 21C Idle: 30C Load: 55C Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (lapped) Panaflo FBA12G12H1 (103CFM, 41.5dBa @ 2400rpm) - currently at 1600RPM I could crank it up by plugging it into the CPU_FAN header, but I lose ~5C due to the lower speed of the fan and gain blissful noise reduction.

I'm thinking of getting a Thermalright cooler to replace my 9700. I'm looking at:
Hand Lapped TRUE I'm thinking of getting Arctic Silver MX-2 and 2 Scythe Slip Streams (10dBA, 40CFM each). What do you guys think?

C2Quad Q6600 G0 @ 3.4, BIOS Vcore: 1.5v, Actual Vcore: ~1.44v (terrible Vdroop with quads)
Ambient: about 25, not sure, room feels quite hot, side panel closed. Idle: ~40c Load: never above 70c, going up or down at about 66c Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (not lapped) + Arctic Silver 5 2x Noiseblocker XL2 (re-branded Yate Loon fans), ~55CFM, ~20dB @ max speed of 1400rpm. superb cooler, mounted my pull fan like a diamond, so that a corner of the fan blows air into the PWM cooler. even had a go at 3.9Ghz, but could not get it stable even for 3Dmark06 to complete.

W.T.F. was I thinking investing hundreds of dollars per water loop rather then just buying a few TRUE's ???? Seriously.... mcp655 + dtek fuzion + 7/16" tubing + 120.3 rad = $$$$ and temps are so stinking close its sick... But then again Im on a quad's so those temps would never happen at that VCore for me

ambient:23° idle:30,30,34,34 load:56,56,63,63 True is lapped, but it could've gone better...gonna finish it with some 2000 grits sandpaper soon. CPU isn't lapped. Got one fan on it, a nanoxia 2000rpms. Most of the time, I let it run on the lowest setting. greets luk Edit: here's a guide for those of you who haven't lapped the T.R.U.E yet http://www.overclock.net/other-cooli...-heatsink.html and here you can see the differences after the lap job on my T.R.U.E: http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...ml#post3377632
