Default Anyone used this heatsink? Masscool 8WA741

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835150082

It's $20, and it's got 100 reviews on newegg. I like its mounting method a lot better than the AC7 (or any stock design, what an annoying method).

As far as I can see, the main compliments are that it cools the CPU well, simple as that. It does its job, and has a lot of airflow.

The cons listed are that it's loud, even when not at 100%; it's ugly (meh); the fins are "flimsy" (bendable); and that because of its airflow design, it doesn't cool the NB or RAM as much as other CPU coolers. That last one is a little odd to me, but whatever.

Anyone here had experience personally?

Yes sir, it is my HS on my sig rig. You should go for it if you are on a budget. It does an amazing job for the price.

The fins are a little bit bendable. I bent one, but they are easy to bend back. Get a good thermal compound and make sure you mount it good and tight. I ended up switching out the backplates from my old heatsink so I could use the new one, but it isn't proprietary there.

I don't think it is loud at all. It is actually really quiet. I can't hear it over my stock case fans on the CM690 which are pretty silent themselves.

Personally, I love it, but I don't have a ton of experience with them.

My P4 is overclocked from 2.8 to 3.85GHz and it keeps it cool. Temps stay under 50C at load.

Does the back plate hurt the motherboard at all?

no. I like it better than the one I had.

It is nice. Has plastic arms so it won't ground itself to the case...

Cait I have a friend that is thinking about this heatsink as well, how did it work out for you... Anything that we should take into consideration?

I like it a lot personally, and it was a huge upgrade from my stock heat sink, but I am sure there are others that can do much better.

This one is great for the budget system.

Are the arms any better than the Intel stocks because I really don't like how those work... Mine kept on coming detached from the board.. So I got my tunic. but I was also planning on overclocking and wanted better temps than what the stock would give me, so the upgrade was inevitable..My friend just needs it for running the 8400 at stock setting so it sounds like it will work just fine for what he would use it for.
