Default Will only lapping heatsink make a difference?

Hey guys, the title pretty much explains it all.
Im a noob with lapping, and dont really want to lap my cpu.
Anyways if i lap my cooler will it make a difference? In other words would i have to lap both to see a little temp decreases? If i just lap my Silent knight could the temps be a little better? ..

thanks

You will see a difference with just lapping your CPU heatsink, but to get the full effect, do both.

Hi.

Yes. Lapping the HSF only may improve your temps; I would actually recommend doing the HSF only, then see what the results are.

There is not need to void the warranty on your CPU (if applicable) for no reason.

If your results are somewhat lackluster... reach down...grab a hold... and lap that IHS.

The IHS is usually rather flat...the biggest part of the issue in the HS and how rough or flat it is.

It depends how flat your CPU is and how uneven your HSF currently is, but generally you should notice a good increase by just lapping your HSF

Only lap the HSF because cool kids don't void their cpu's warranty

Although overclocking "voids" the warranty, which most of us here do.

I would order a lapping kit, cheap and has everything you need

http://www.easypckits.com/products/premiumlk/

you might be able to find it cheaper
