Re: the questions ...
1. Where'd I get 3000 grit compound: From a buddy that runs a body shop; he hooked me up with the sheets of sand paper and a bottle of the 3M 3000 grit compound. (It should be stated here that studies have shown that finishing well at 600 grit is perfectly fine and may even be a degree or two better than a mirror finish ... but I'm a sucker for the bling so I always mirror it out). 2. "What's your temps?" : I don't know yet cause I haven't installed the cooler; I bought this T.R.U.E to use with my newly purchased Q6600 which I haven't installed yet; gonna upgrade my sig rig with both the Q6600 and T.R.U.E. tomorrow. I'll post some results to this thread once it's all installed. 3. Did I bleed? : Not this time ... just a good rub to one finger; last CPU lap I did though, I had blood oozing from both forefinger and thumb; talk about painful the next day. ... Otherwise ... Can't wait to get it all installed tomorrow ... I'm hoping my trusty P5B Deluxe (once bios flashed) will have no problems with my new Q6600. I'll post some Q6600 temps with the lapped T.R.U.E. to this thread once I get it built tomorrow! (only stock until I burn it in for a week or so) Thanks for the comments all!

Awesome blow by blow summary of the work with great pics!
__________________I never bothered to get mine all shiney...just wanted it flatter. So mine doesn't look too pretty, but it works. If you have any question regarding your P5B-D + Q6600, i'm happy to help. I ran my Q6700 on a P5B-D for a while before getting my current mobo. I'd say the biggest things to keep in mind is that vdroop is insanely huge with a quad on there (yes, far worse than it already is with duals), & you might not get a very high FSB. Mine was stuck at 399, & i've heard of other who couldn't get past 400 either. Might be fixed with the newer bioses though, i haven't followed it recently.
