my proc was VERY convex, and i took the easy way out,lol

there are still slight traces of the nickel plated part but it was my first lap job and i didn't want to risk going too far (now i know i wasn't too close)

I'm definitely going to lap the Q6600 ...

But first, I'm going to run it stock for a month or so just to make sure I don't have to RMA it for whatever reason.

And yeah ... just gazed through the plastic window of my still packaged Q6600 and it does indeed have the tapered sides; weird...

Anyway, I know nothing about this particular chip ... it's batch info is: L751A791 ... can't find any info online re this build.

Going to install it tomorrow after flashing my trusty P5B Deluxe ...

You'll see that it was worth your time and effort to put some elbow grease into it. However, it would've been nice to have a comparison from before the heatsink got lapped...shows the improvements possible.

What direction did you go with for the lapping proccess and did you use water or leave it dry the whole time?

I have heard figure 8 and have also heard to go in up/down 30 strokes then switch left/right 30 strokes and repeat until flat.
