Nooooooooooo! You killed us. Man have we been anxiously waiting for someone with a lapped Q6600 G0 (w/ the new tapered IHS) to post some pics. Did those tapered edges disappear? Also, that little hole in the corner, is it still there? All the +rep(s) in the world if you can show us some pics of the cpu.

Thanks

Regarding your new motherboard, it's actually discontinued. But check out this forum:

Sorry.

As I mentioned ... I was sort of spasming through it all ...

I actually took off work cause the Maximus wouldn't post ... spent five hours or so driving back and forth to Directron.com's warehouse trying to identify what was up ...

Turns out ... *ONE* of my Mushkin D9 sticks was fried ... dunno when it happened or why ...

Anyway ... during all that, the desire to lap the Q6600 overtook me and I (like a madman, really) ... did it in almost an hour ...

I was biting my lip and grinding my teeth and sort of rocking back and forth through the whole thing ...

The idea of running and getting my camera occurred to me but I just couldn't stop ... (sweat was, literally, running down my neck); a man possessed.

Anyway ...

To answer some of your questions ...

1. Yes, the bevels are ever so slightly still visible ...

2. Yes, the dot in the corner is still there ..

3. Yes, ... it was horribly concave and even sort of 'lopsided', with one side being higher than the other.

4. Yes; I sanded the tip of my finger off.

...

Anyway ...

Doing some OCCT stress tests at 3.5ghz at the moment ... load is hitting 67C at it's highest.

Check this stress program out ... it will blow the lid off your Quad core:

OCCT Perestroïka 2.0.0a

...

Check it.
